Holiday Used Car Buyers Can Check Vehicle History On-the-Spot Using Mobile Devices
CENTREVILLE, Va. — Carfax today announced that its mobile app for consumers has exceeded 100,000 downloads. Launched a year ago, the Carfax Reports app for iPhone and Android gives used car buyers anywhere, anytime access to Carfax information with just a few screen taps. Smartphone users can run a Carfax Report by entering the license plate, scanning a barcode on the car, or using the 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN).
“More and more used car buyers are making sure they can get a Carfax Report anytime they need and wherever they shop,” said Larry Gamache, communications director at Carfax. “Especially now, with people considering giving a car as a gift, having the power and added peace of mind of Carfax information at your fingertips is crucial. A lump of coal in your stocking is one thing, but a lemon in your driveway is the last thing anyone wants for Christmas.”
Nearly 1 in 50 used car buyers in December are buying the car as a gift, which is the most in four years, according to CNW Research. These gift-givers, especially those considering cars ‘for sale by owner’, can get Carfax Reports on-the-spot using the Carfax Reports mobile app to help find the right car and buy with greater confidence. Anyone shopping for a used car also should get a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic before buying.
The Carfax Reports used car app for consumers is a free download from the App StoreSM and Google PlaySM. An image of the Carfax Reports app is available for use at http://news.carfax.com/image-gallery.
