O’Connor, retired Ford Motor Company Group Vice President North America, to its board of directors.

O’Connor joined Ford in 1964 and over forty years progressed through a series of sales and marketing positions with Ford, Lincoln Mercury and Ford Parts and Service divisions, as well as Ford of Canada, Limited. He was named Ford Motor Company group Vice President for North America Marketing, Sales and Service in May 2002, responsible for overseeing Ford, Lincoln Mercury and Ford Parts-Customer Service divisions, Dealer Development and Ford racing and Marketing Operations. Prior to that he was Chairman of Ford of Canada, President of the Lincoln Mercury Brand and President of the Ford Brand. O’Connor retired in 2004 and currently serves on the board of Kelly Management Company, a private chain of automotive dealerships, and is Owner/Partner of Kelly Ford, Melbourne, Florida.
O’Connor is a 1964 graduate of Villanova University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He served as the President of the Villanova Alumni Association in 1995 and received its prestigious Loyalty Award – the highest award given to an alumnus. He has been active in various charities and fund-raising activities, including the United Way, the Northwood University Scholarship Campaign, Villanova University’s Capital Campaign and the Immokalee Foundation. He served on the Board of Visitors for Howard University’s School of Business for 15 years, Villanova University’s School of Business, the Detroit Athletic League, and the boards for Carey Limousine International, Ashworth Inc. and Ford Direct.
He previously served on the Advisory Council for the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, the President’s Advisory Council of Villanova University and the Augustinian Fund Raising Committee, where he chaired the Rev. Richard D. Appicci O.S.A Mission Foundation Fund. O’Connor was also honored to serve as the Grand Marshall of the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2003.
In 2011 O’Connor received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which is awarded annually to a group of distinguished citizens who exemplify outstanding qualities, both personally and professionally, which honor America while preserving the richness of their ethnic and cultural heritage. Since its founding in 1986, the Medal has been officially recognized by both Houses of Congress as one of our nation’s most prestigious awards and has been presented to many distinguished and diverse Americans including six Presidents of the United States; as well as esteemed Americans such as Astronaut John Glenn, Frank Sinatra, Lee Iacocca and Quincy Jones, to name a few.
